Today was a day of reflection, we went to the Pearl harbour memorial and museum. It was very moving and emotional. The USS Arizona Memorial is seen as a cemetery and contains a shrine with all the names listed of lost soldiers of the bombing. This is free of charge and accessible by taking a left when you walk into the visitor centre. Taking the remembrance path round the shoreside is very moving as it’s not only full of facts and figures but also lists the names of all submarine, navy and airforce lost. The museums are very informative and interactive however we didn’t explore the paid entry ones.

After we had bought a couple postcards we jumped into a taxi and headed to Waikiki Beach on the other side of the island. It was very busy and touristy! The beach itself isn’t that big so if you’re going I’d suggest going early to get a spot! It’s great for surfing and has both small and big waves. The sea floor however is extremely rocky so take some sea shoes as it’s a painful journey into the sea! Lunch for us was a typical American burger, although some optioned for a take away poke bowl which is very Hawaiian!

We walked back to the ship (about an hour and a half) and past the shops, malls and hotels. There was so much to do! All in all a good place for any type of day!
